Yes, 1099Pro Cloud supports electronic Filing of Form 1042, Annual Withholding Tax Return for U.S. Source Income of Foreign Persons.
Form 1042 is required to be filed with the IRS anytime a Form 1042-S is issued. Unlike Form 1042-S, Form 1042 only needs to be submitted to the IRS, not payees. Beginning for tax year 2024, all U.S. based withholding agents will need to file Form 1042 electronically via the IRS’ Modernized eFile (MeF) System. For more information on Form 1042, check out our Form 1042 eFiling Guide.

1099Pro Cloud customers can select to add 1099-NEC & W-2 Direct State Reporting upon checkout. With this add-on, we will file your 1099-NECs and W-2s directly with states on your behalf. Currently, 1099Pro Cloud supports Combined Federal State Filing (CFSF) Program filings for supported 1099s and direct-to-state reporting for Form 1099-NEC and W-2.
Certain states that require direct-state reporting also require filers to submit an annual reconciliation form, which is used to reconcile the amounts of taxes withheld from payments to a recipient by the filer with the amount of taxes owed/paid to the states. Currently, 1099Pro Cloud does not support the filing of these reconciliation forms.
